Affordable boating

The San Diego boat show opens today San Diego boat show. The reason I bring it up was I saw a press release on Affordable boating at the show, it seems the show will feature a pavilion containing boats that can be purchased for under $250 per month. The concept was also shown last month at the New York Boat show and was covered by Sounding Trade only. While I do have some problems with the idea of over extending consumers credit by offering low monthly payments on boats, I do see promise for the future.  With a renewed focus on affordability I believe boat builders may once again focus energy on small efficient boats for the masses much like they did during the 1950s through the 1970s. I believe this is exactly what the marine industry needs. Plus it will also give birth to new boats and new ideas in the small boating world, which in my mind is always a good thing.
